To some it's the
Flag, to me it's our Colors, just an old military thing I guess. When I see the
Colors it reminds me of how great this nation is
..
I see thirteen stripes representing the 13
colonies for which this nation was born. The stripes remind me of a few
courageous men and women, at the time the minority, who were willing to give
theirs lives, their family, their home, their land and their wealth to create a
place unlike any other on the planet. A place were the words Freedom, Liberty,
Peace, and the Pursuit of Happiness, were more than little words. They were a
way of a new life absent of oppression, royalty, and
dictatorships
I see fifty
bright shinning stars representing the 50 states, nations within a nation which
comprise this great country. 50 different states of people, who have a right to
disagree and a responsibility to unite. 50 states of people who flocked to this
country for the principles our Colors represent, to stand united against the
evils of the world and shout
.."United We
Stand" I see a background of Blue which
reminds me of Freedom and how precious and delicate it is. How for over 200
years, as a work in progress, we have struggled to preserve the basic
expression that all should enjoy
..
I see the White of the stripes which
represents to me, the Liberty promised to all and the Opportunity to form our
own destiny. White, a color of ALL colors which doesn't distinguish from what
culture, what ethic heritage or what religion you are born to, but recognizes
that each person is an individual afforded all the rights of the
whole
I see the Red of the
stripes which remind me of the Blood and Guts a few have given to protect the
whole. The sacrifices of life for principles. The Heroes of our great nation
who have answered the "Call of Duty" knowing the extreme risks they take. It's
the Red, that gets me all choked up inside as I salute the Colors. It's the Red
that ignites memories of years past when young men died beside me giving their
most precious possession
.their Life
Those are some of the things I see when I
look at the Colors
they go right along with the feeling I get
that I'm not alone, I'm one of millions who cherish the rights for which it
flies high with Honor
I am reminded that although Ole Glory stands
for Freedom and Liberty, she also deserves Respect.
Constructive criticism and a willingness to
persevere are welcome traits needed for improvement. But, to those that shout
loud for change, take caution, because there is a line between Freedom and
Treason which one would be wise not to cross.
All Americans have a right to fly the Colors
with Honor, Pride and Respect. But, burning or disgracing the Colors puts their
Americanship at risk
